Band bio
Liberty and Justice is made up of two folks singing folk tunes, old and new. They are Desiree and Carlos. Desiree had her beginnings in music on bongos and djembe mainly. After years dreaming of becoming a musician, she met Carlos at a farm called La Milpa and her dreams slowly came into reality. At that time, the two of them were living in San Diego county.
The first time they met there was a magnetism, a special connection between the two of them and it was destiny for them to create beautiful music together. One day Desiree told Carlos she loved the banjo and really wanted to learn it. Soon after that Carlos brought a banjo over to her house and started teaching her what he knew. He had never played banjo and only bought it a day before, but he is an incredible musician and a very quick learner so he caught on fast.
Desiree and Carlos spent hours and hours learning the banjo and in May 2011 left on their incredible hitch hiking journey everywhere west of the Mississippi River. During this journey, Carlos became a wonderful banjo player and Desiree took on the harmonica and ukulele. They performed on streets in cities from San Diego to Santa Cruz to Eugene Oregon, Olympia Washington, all the way to Branson Missouri where they are now living. Now they play locally and experiment with multiple instruments and vocal style. People have called their music a mix of folk, jazz, gypsy, blues, and reggae.
Their message inspires love for everyone. They sing of healing ourselves, being in harmony with the environment, and rejoicing all that we have in this wonderful existence. Love has no boundaries nor does their music.
